6 April – Easy as you go: Spur Sage 

Most spur sage (Plectranthus) are shade-loving, easy-going perennials with showy, abundant flowers in autumn. Learn how to grow these indigenous beauties with botanist Ernst van Jaarsveld.

13 or 20 April – Classic Olive Workshop

Discover the ancient art of making olive oil – and preserving olives – with Linda Costa, doyenne of the South African olive industry. Also starring Klaas Stoffberg, the man running our olive press.

18 May – Kicks like a Mule: Distilling Mampoer

Light the fire under that copper kettle. Join Andries van der Walt and learn to distil mampoer from seasonal fruit.

25 May – Rare Cycad Workshop

Explore our cycad collection with botanist Ernst van Jaarsveld. Choosing and caring for these unique indigenous living fossils.

8 June – Gundula’s Teas & Tisanes

Cozy and healthy this winter with teas and tisanes. The one and only Gundula Deutschlander shares her knowledge of ancient and modern herbalism; shows kombucha.

15 June – That Aloe

Come spend the day with Ernst van Jaarsveld, succulent expert and author of the new Tree Aloes of Africa.

20 July – Lovely Mushroom Workshop

Those that love mushrooms, learn grow shiitake and oyster mushrooms with experts Kotie van Tonder and Danica Resoort, then use to good effect.

27 July – Veldkos, Baby

Learn to identify indigenous veldkos, so you can live a more sustainable life on food that is local and healthy.  Botanist Ernst van Jaarsveld.

3, 17 or 31 August – Espaliering for Edward Scissorhands

Learn from that master of the secateurs, Anton Roux, to propagate, graft, plant and prune  fruit trees into espaliers.

14 September – Clivia Mania

Specialist of the Cape Clivia Club, Heinie Heydenrych, hosting a hands-on workshop. View thousands of our clivias in bloom, some very rare.

12 October – Herby Worky

The Babylonstoren garden team will show you how to grow fresh herbs, then make a range of herby potions to purify body, soul and home.

19 or 26 October – Secret Life of Bees

Spring’s warmer weather brings a buzz to our gardens. Lean in close with bee expert Mike Allsopp and our Liesl van der Walt to see what cooks in a hive.

16 November – Growing Organic Salads without Turning a Spade

Organic producer Tia Cusden joins us from Somerset in the UK to share tips on growing salad leaves. Get your  planting box with  for harvesting at home.

7 December – Such Succulents 

Our rich inheritance is famous throughout the world. Botanist Ernst van Jaarsveld demo’s choosing and propagating succulents for your garden.  Easy peazy!
