Flu-Fighting Citrus Tea Recipe

During the winter months at Babylonstoren, the lemons, limes, oranges, naartjies, blood oranges and kumquats all ripen in the garden. These punchy Vitamin C-rich fruits make for the perfect winter flu-fighting tea. Babylonstoren master gardener Gundula Deutschländer shares her recipe.


Flu-Fighting Citrus Tea Recipe


You will need

◗ Big handful of lemon thyme
◗ 1 twig lemon verbena
◗ 1 stalk lemongrass, roughly chopped
◗ 3cm piece of ginger, peeled & chopped
◗ Honey to sweeten

Garnish

◗ 1 lime or lemon, thinly sliced
◗ calendula flowers
◗ 1 lemongrass stem

Method

◗ Combine all the ingredients
◗ Pour 2 liters of boiling water over the aromatics
◗ Steep for 15 minutes
◗ Strain, and add the lime/lemon, calendula and lemongrass to decorate
◗ Serve hot or cold
