Last week we collected beautiful ironstone (dolorite) rocks on a farm in the Karoo, between Sutherland and Fraserburg. Thanks Stewie Theron of Tafelberg! They will form building blocks for our Hantam Garden.

Four years after the first harvest, Sprankel - our very own Méthode Cap Classique. Sprankel is a proud blanc de blanc of selected Chardonnay grapes from various vineyards on the farm.

Oh, we love this time of the year! Everything on the farm reminds us of joy - vibrant green vines, the early summer produce in the garden, holiday vibe amongst our visitors.

We're on the brink of summer, the bountiful season. Warmer days bring a new burst of new energy; farmer Hannes and team thinning out young plums and topping vines. They also planted risotto in our rice paddy, next to the vlei. You'd think you're in Po Valley of Italy, where a hundred thousand women from the South once came to tend the harvest.

Any gardener will tell you that his art is a grand teacher of patience. One has no choice but to wait for plants to mature and bear fruit when they're ready. Especially nut trees, they're not to be hurried. We have several of these in the garden: macadamia, almond, hazel, walnut and pistachio.
